That means for the M1 - one monitor is natively displayed and the other works via DisplayLink. The hub is then connected to power to deliver power back to the M1 and also then connects to the two monitors via HDMI or DisplayPort. With that said, I've seen setups where you have a single USB-C cable connect to the Air to a DisplayLink enabled hub. Something to note, the M1 Air cannot drive two external monitors natively.
